Midtown Speech NYC is run by Becky Iswara, former teacher-turned-speech therapist. She has over 15+ years of experience in the Education, a master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Columbia University, Teachers College and years of rigorous coursework and training in various evidence-based approaches.
By combining her extensive training and in-depth education with her experience as a New York City mother of two, Becky is uniquely qualified to help your child improve his/her speech, language and feeding skills—and to support you, as the parent, through the process.

PROMPT Certified Clinician. Completed specialized trainings (PROMPT Intro, Bridging, Practicum) and passed a rigorous certification process to demonstrate proficiency in using the PROMPT approach. PROMPT stands for Prompts for Restructuring Oral Muscular Phonetic Targets, which is a highly sought after therapy modality for children with motor speech issues.

Earned the Qualified Orofacial Myologist (QOM) credential for completing the 28-hour course, passing the examination and completing comprehensive clinical component to demonstrate proficiency in using the Myo Manual Treatment Plan. Orofacial Myology is the science and clinical knowledge dealing with the muscles of the mouth and face (orofacial muscles) and qualified therapists address symptoms of orofacial myofunctional disorders (OMD) such as negative oral habits (e.g., thumb-sucking, prolonged pacifier use), atypical chewing patterns, atypical swallowing patterns and abnormal rest posture of the orofacial muscles.

Specialty training on how tethered oral tissues (tongue and lip ties) affect oral function from birth to maturity.
Babble Boot Camp© (BBC) is a parent-conducted and evidence-based approach designed to accelerate speech and language development in very young children at risk for disorders.
